Tera Term is an open source, free, software implemented, terminal emulator application. It can emulate different types of computer terminals, from DEC VT100 to DEC VT382, and it supports telnet, SSH 1 & 2 and serial port connections. It also has a built-in macro scripting language and some other useful plugins. Tera Term is a File Transfer and Networking application like SmartFTP, Rename Master, and EF Commander from Tera Term Project. It has a simple and basic user interface, and most importantly, it is free to download. Tera Term is an efficient software that is recommended by many Windows PC users.

Tera Term (rarely TeraTerm) is an open-source, free, software implemented, terminal emulator (communications) program. It emulates different types of computer terminals, from DEC VT100 to DEC VT382. It supports telnet, SSH 1 & 2 and serial port connections. It also has a built-in macro scripting language and a few other useful plugins. Install Teraterm 4.60.zip (Save file to desktop and install) Start Tera Term program and select the radio button labeled 'Serial'. Select the COM port from the drop down menu for the device you are going to connect to, then click 'OK'. Click on 'Setup' from the menu bar and select 'Serial Port' from the drop down window.

TeraTerm Project would have been developed terminal emulator 'Tera Term' and SSH module 'TTSSH'. This software is open source software under BSD License. This is Tera Term Pro 2.3 succession version and is being officially recognized by the original author. Development is continuing in Project Page on OSDN.

Latest version is available from OSDN download page. Current latest release is 4.105.
If you can get latest development version, the source code is available from SVN repository. And snapshot is here.

Tera Term users who have had their operating system updated to Windows 7 on their computer have been experiencing problems with the key mapping component in the Tera Term software when trying to access the administrative systems on Keynes.
Workaround
Hold down the Ctrl Key while pressing J on your keyboard. This substitutes for the Enter key on the number keypad.
Resolution
Teraterm Install
Before you attempt to follow these steps, you need to be an administrator on your local machine. If you are not, please contact your local support or Nebula.
Download
Download Tera Term Pro to your computer.
- Select “download the software from our server” under Get Software
- Agree to the Tera Term Use Agreement
- Select Tera Term Pro 2.34 and save the file
An menu item will appear in your Programs Menu after the download has been completed and This should install Tera Term Pro to your computer.
Configure and Startup Software
Follow these selections:
Start Menu -> UWICK Applications -> Administrative Applications -> Keynes
1. Select Keynes will start a session and a sign-on screen will appear.
Creating a Shortcut for Keynes
You may create a shortcut using Windows 7 for Keynes once you have successfully used Keynes with these steps:

- Click once with the left mouse button on Start -> Programs -> UWICK Applications-Administrative Application -> Keynes
- From the resulting list, click once with the right mouse button on the terminal you want to copy (Keynes)
- From the resulting popup menu, click once with the mouse button on ‘Send To’
- From the resulting list, click once with the left mouse button on Desktop (create shortcut)
- You should then see a new shortcut appear on your desktop for the terminal you want to use. (Note that this shortcut does have the small arrow, just like your other desktop shortcuts).
