The development team at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA might have stopped the flow of video content associated with their upcoming Total War: Attila, but the two companies are offering something the fan community might find even more valuable in the coming months: a full map of the terrain the game will cover, with starting positions for all the factions that are included in the campaign.
Music: Rome: Total War Music Please note this is an unofficial video and is not endorsed by SEGA or the Creative Assembly in any way. For more information on Total War, please visit www.totalwar.com. Total War: ATTILA Campaign Map The full campaign map reveals the start position for each of the playable and non-playable factions in Total War: Attila and details which factions are settled. CA can make campaign map tool, sound modding tool and battlemap tools and unit adding tools, but it is almost 100% chance that CA won't make a map editor for attila, but they have the opportunity to make them for future historical titles, since they have said modding for warhammer is out of the question.
The reveal is important because it allows the fan community to plan their campaigns and see exactly what enemies they will have to face in their quest to control the world or simply escape from extinction.
The official announcement states, 'The full campaign map reveals the start position for each of the playable and non-playable factions in Total War: Attila and details which factions are settled and which are migrating. Using the campaign map as a guide, you could elect to command the remains of Rome and attempt to survive the onslaught, or fight in bitter defiance of all her works and unleash the barbarian hordes upon her.'
The Total War: Attila map is in many ways similar to that delivered by The Creative Assembly for Rome II, but the studio has made it clear that more details will be included in order to make sure that the changes between the two periods are clear.
Total War: Attila will focus on the decline of civilization
The new strategy title will take place at the start of the decline of the Roman world, when the two halves of the Empire have to deal with internal issues and with the approaching barbarian tribes.
The coming of the fierce Huns, who in gameplay terms will be unable to ever settle, means that other smaller factions move around and attack the more civilized states.
Total War: Attila is more focused on the decline of civilization than on the development of empires, and The Creative Assembly says climate change, fire and disease will be able to decimate even the most prosperous provinces.
During tactical battles, fear and fire will also have a bigger impact than ever and gamers can use them to destroy the morale of their enemies.
Total War: Attila will be out on February 17 on the PC.
